Medical services for low-income groups initiated through Anandam Medical Care Centre
Access to quality health care continues to remain a challenge in many rural pockets in India. For villages in and around Anandam, the nearest medical facility is about 4 kilometres away. Anandam Medical Care Centre (AMCC) was started in 2015 to make health care more accessible for people from low-income households in the neighbourhood.
AMCC provides medical consultation, medicines and basic lab facilities free-of-cost to serve a population of around 1.5 lakh from 20 villages in the vicinity. On an average, 60-80 poor patients benefit from this facility everyday. The Centre provides free consultation for general medicine and specialised care like dental and eye, physiotherapy and alternative therapies like acupuncture and acupressure.

Free Medical Care
60-80 patients receive free treatment every day.

Our free medical services reach out to 1.5 lakh people from 20 neighbouring villages.
Multi-speciality care
Out-patient services, eye care and dental care, along with physiotherapy and pain relief management have benefitted over 15,000 patients.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy sessions are conducted for musculoskeletal pain, rheumatoid arthritis and other degenerative joint diseases.
Lab services & pharmacy
We provide basic laboratory diagnostic services and have a well-stocked pharmacy.
Medical experts
Our medical team includes experienced doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and lab technicians.
Through its medical outreach programmes, AMCC also conducts free medical camps for villages in the vicinity, where there are no medical facilities.
One of our main challenges has been the hospitalisation of both Anandam Home residents and those coming to the Anandam Medical Care Centre. We have tied up with reputed hospitals in Chennai which provide specialised treatment to the residents of Anandam Home as well as patients coming to AMCC, at a concessional rate.
